  Maintenance Classes

NEW COURSE FORMATS

We will be runing maintenance classes from the beginning of December until the middle of March 2010.  We have changed the format of the courses this year so rather than have a 2hr session we will have the option of a half day or a full day to cover topics that are tailored to your individual needs.

These sessions are designed for you to learn more about the road and time trial bikes you ride on a regular basis.  You can all ride your bikes but when it comes to maintenance and repair most people admit they need some help and advice, so thats were we come in.

The classes will be run by Alan, who wrote and set up the national qualification for cycle mechanics in the UK.  They will be kept to a maximum of 2 people and are designed for individuals or friends, these aren't just sessions were you stand and listen to someone talk for hours, these are hands on sessions, so be prepared to get your hands dirty!

How much will a session cost me?

Half Day (3.5hrs) - £40.00 (£5 discount per person if booking for 2 people)
Full Day (7hrs) - £70.00 (£5 discount per person if booking for 2 people)

Prices are for time only and do not include spares and components that you may fit during the class.

When are the courses?

We will run the courses on Monday's, Tuesday's and Thursday's.  A full day will start at 9am with a short lunch break, and a half day can either be in the morning or afternoon depending on what you prefer.

Possible Topics to Cover -

Pre Race Preparation & Event Bike Checks
Gears
Brakes
Cabling your bike
Wheel Truing
Servicing
Maintenance
Bottom Brackets
Replacing Chain and Cassette
Bar Taping
Fitting Tubular Tyre or Clincher Tyres
Upgrading your bike (new bars, stems, wheels, aerobars, groupset etc)
Wheel building (by special arrangement, would require multiple sessions)

These classes are designed for road and time trial bikes.  Unfortunately we are not equipped to service hybrids and mountain bikes.

What we need from you for the booking:

1. Name, address, telephone number and email address.
2. The date and time that you wish to make a booking for.
3. Also as spaces are limited we require payment in full when booking.
4. The bike that you are bringing and the spec, this is just so we are prepared for when you arrive and can get started straight away rather than spend time getting everything ready while you are here.
5. If you cancel a booking we will issue a full refund until 48hrs before the date of the class.  Cancellation withless than 48hrs before the class will mean we will change the date of the class to a more convenient time but not issue a refund.
6. All bikes must be brought in for classes clean and that mudguards are removed if applicable.

Testimonials

Hi Alan/Ceri,

Just a short note to extend my thanks for the time and effort you put aside on the recent maintenance classes I have attended.  I thought that the relaxed, informal atmosphere was great and a real benefit in terms of getting out of the classes what I wanted to achieve.

The pace and content of the course was also great and at no point did I ever feel intimidated or even conscious of the fact that I may be asking what other people may have thought to be a stupid question!  Having only been seriously into cycling for 18 months, your course has increased my confidence hugely and I am more than comfortable when it comes to making small tweaks and changes to my bike set up.

These classes are a must for anyone who is serious about cycling.  From the experience I have had, just to understand how things work, how things come apart and the importance of keeping all aspects of your bike in good, clean working order make all rides more enjoyable.

Thanks and regards,

Steve

Dear Alan & Ceri,

I would like to take this opportunity to thanks you for all the technical advice that I gained from the three courses that I recently attended (Gears 1 & 2 and Cleaning and Maintenance). I really enjoyed the whole learning experience, which was very easy to follow and understand.

What I learned from these very informal, friendly and hands-on classes was priceless, giving me a greater understanding as to why and how to change, adjust, repair and maintain my bike with confidence and with so much ease.

I can't thank-you or recommend your classes enough. Aimed at both novice and experienced riders alike, your classes really give a full insight into understand how a bike works. If you treasure your bike and love cycling, these courses are a must, as a well maintained bike adds to the whole riding experience.

Another big advantage is I've found an honest, passionate and first class supplier of bikes and bike parts that I can talk to and ask any cycling related questions.

Perfect 10 out of 10.
